my acknowledgement page for my research paper. i'm not sure if i'll put it in or not...AcknowledgementsThis research paper would not have been complete without the following people:
My family—for putting up with my excessive use of the computer at home (I am so not working on my paper in some funny-smelling netshop where people keep watching me while I work—ugh, the nerve of them!); and for not chucking me out of the window whenever I’d protest about why Jinx and JM got to use the damn thing and I never got to.
My friends and classmates—for all those discussions about
Veronika Decides To Die; and for all those fun times at the library writing our papers. Remember “An Introduction,” and “A Conclusion.”
Kuya Joel—for those ideas about my thesis statements. How come you’re in my acknowledgements? You were in the acknowledgements of the Pioneers last year!
Ms. Kathy—for helping me out in making my first-ever research paper; and for letting me continue with
Veronika Decides To Die, and not with
Fifth Mountain...and for making me all scared about ever committing plagiarism (haha!).
I’d seen the pioneers’ papers, which they did last year, and they had acknowledged their boyfriends and boy friends. Unfortunately, I have neither of those, nor did I find one by the time of this paper’s submission, so I’m just going to give recognition to some guys who I don’t personally know, but have become inspirations in making this paper:
J. J. Abrams—for creating
Lost, my current TV show addiction. Many thanks for creating a show that made me see how people of different cultures and beliefs (those “insane” survivors, with the island as the “asylum”) can learn to live together despite their differences. More than this, many thanks for putting two hot guys on the show, Matthew Fox (Jack) and Josh Holloway (Sawyer). I just have to ask:
Why, oh why, did Ian Somerhalder (Boone) have to die?Tom Shadyac and the whole cast and crew of
Patch Adams—for helping me see past the world’s “sanity” and “insanity”; and for making me understand that there’s nothing wrong with walking around town wearing a big, red clown nose (at least now I know I can do that more often...).
Lastly, Paulo Coelho—for writing
Veronika Decides To Die. I thought my life was boring, and Veronika taught me that I should allow a bit of insanity into my life...Look at me now, I’m walking around in a straight jacket.
I am trying to sound as serious and formal as I can. I hope my acknowledgement reflects how serious I am, both as a student and as a person. [
There are only two sentences here—this is a hanging paragraph, so I’m going to add just one more sentence to make it a REAL paragraph.] Yes, believe me, I’m the most serious person in the whole world—the most mature, too.
