I've been on duty in different hospital wards for the past three semesters (four, if including this sem), and I always thought I'd never get a "Grey's Anatomy" moment--until this week.
Grabe, we were assigned to this ward for six weeks. And I happened to be assigned to a patient hooked to a mechanical vent. So yeah, there's a machine. That's run by electricity. Which is why it was plugged to an outlet in the corner.
Anyhoo...while I was checking data on the chart at the Nurses' Station, there was a glitch in the power supply and--shit!--NAG-BLACK OUT! As in no electricity. Kaya no power supply. Kaya the mech vent wouldn't work. Grabe! Everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) rushed to the patients with mech vents, ready to use the Ambu-Bag manually. Wow.
It was like straight out of a scene from Grey's. Haha.
Ayun. Well, the generator came back immediately, so no damage was done and everyone was fine. Yah. Haha.
